What it does
- Each Plug S MTR Gen3 measures the power and energy of the appliance plugged into it.
- The app shows what the washing machine draws per cycle, what the dishwasher draws and what the fridge uses in a day.
- The TV socket switches off on a schedule or with a button on the remote, cutting the standby draw of the TV, the set-top box and the soundbar.
- The fridge socket is only there to measure: it stays on all the time and can send an alert if consumption drops to zero.
- An end-of-cycle notification tells you when the washing machine and the dishwasher have finished.
- The four-button BLU remote, battery-powered, goes wherever you need it and controls the plugs.

How to install it
Wi-Fi network. The kit has no hub: the plugs connect to the home router on the 2.4 GHz network. Check the Wi-Fi coverage in the kitchen, the laundry and the living room, where the plugs go. In the Shelly app you create the account and the rooms; if you already use Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home, you can add the plugs there too through Matter.
Metering plugs. Fit one smart plug per appliance: washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and TV. They go straight into the wall socket, with no power strips or adapters in between, and the appliance must stay within the maximum power the manufacturer states for the plug. Behind the washing machine and the fridge, leave enough room so the plug does not get crushed.
BLU remote. The BLU RC Button 4 remote is battery-powered and talks over Bluetooth to the Shelly Gen3 devices, which act as the bridge to the network. It sits on the TV unit or fixes to the wall. Assign one button to switch the TV plug off and back on, and use the others for whichever plugs you like.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app, add the four plugs with the guided procedure; for Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home use the plug's Matter code. Then add the BLU remote to one of the plugs, following the app's procedure, and assign the actions to the buttons. Name every plug after the appliance connected to it.
Recommended automations. Schedule an overnight switch-off for the TV socket. Set a notification for when the washing machine's consumption drops to zero after a cycle, so you know it has finished. Lock the button on the fridge socket, if the app allows it, so it cannot be switched off by mistake. After a month, compare the readings.
Contents verified. The Plug S MTR Gen3 are Shelly Wi-Fi devices with Matter, and the BLU RC Button 4 remote pairs with Shelly Gen3 devices over Bluetooth, so it controls the kit's plugs directly. Nothing needs accessories: the plugs go into the wall sockets and the remote runs on its own coin cell.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The plugs connect to the home Wi-Fi router and the BLU remote pairs straight to the Shelly Gen3 plugs over Bluetooth. All you need is the Shelly app on your smartphone. The plugs can also be added to Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home through Matter.
Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple?
Yes. The Plug S MTR Gen3 support Matter, so they are added to Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home with their own code. The more detailed energy monitoring and the BLU remote are handled from the Shelly app.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The plugs go into the wall sockets and the remote is simply set down or fixed with double-sided tape. There is no electrical wiring. Just check that each appliance stays within the maximum power the manufacturer states for the plug.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The plugs keep metering and are controlled with their own button and with the BLU remote; over Matter they remain controllable on the home network from any controller that handles it locally. Notifications and access from outside the home resume once the line is back.
Can I switch the fridge off with the plug?
You can, but it is not a good idea: the fridge's smart plug is there to measure how much it draws and must stay switched on at all times. You can, however, get an alert if consumption drops to zero for many hours, a sign of a fault or of a plug pulled out.
Are batteries included?
The plugs use no batteries. The BLU RC Button 4 remote runs on a CR2032 coin cell, supplied in the box by the manufacturer; it is easy to replace when the app reports a low charge.
Can I add more plugs?
Yes. You can add more Shelly plugs, relays or DIN-rail meters in the same app, and pair more BLU remotes. Every extra plug is paired with the same guided procedure and can also be added to the voice assistants over Matter.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
