Aqara glazing protection kit with 4 vibration sensors

Four Aqara T1 vibration sensors fitted to glazing, patio doors and window frames report knocks, blows and attempts to force an entry before anyone is inside. The M100 hub collects the events and sends the notification to your phone; in the Aqara Home app you set the sensitivity of each sensor and the hours the alarm is armed.

Who it is forHouses and flats with large glazed areas, French doors onto the garden or easily reached window frames.

How you control itAqara Home app, with adjustable sensitivity and alarm modes armed on a timer or by hand.
InstallationDIY: the sensors go on with double-sided tape, the hub plugs into a USB power supply.

What it does

  • Each T1 sensor stuck to the glass or the frame picks up vibration and knocks: a sharp impact or an attempt to force it generates an event in the app.
  • The M100 hub takes the events from the sensors and sends a notification to the phone, naming the window it came from.
  • Sensitivity is set per sensor, so a large window exposed to wind or traffic does not trigger constant alerts.
  • With the alarm mode on only at night or when you are out, vibration becomes an alarm; during the day it stays a simple event log.
  • The log in the app shows when and where each vibration was picked up, which helps you tell an accidental knock from a repeated attempt.
  • Other Aqara sensors (door, motion, siren) can be added to the same hub whenever you want to extend cover.
More glazing, want to add a siren or magnetic contacts on the doors, or already using another hub? Get in touch via the contact page and we will propose the right configuration.

How it is installed

Hub and network. Plug the M100 hub into one of the kit's USB power supplies and into a socket in a central position, halfway between the glazed doors you want to protect, away from large metal masses. The hub pairs with the Aqara Home app over the home Wi-Fi and from then on acts as coordinator for the sensors: set it up first and then leave it where it is.
Vibration sensors. Clean and dry the surface, then stick each T1 sensor with the double-sided tape in a corner of the glass or on the opening frame, where the shock of a blow carries well but the sensor does not get in the way of opening or of the curtains. Avoid the spots the casement knocks against in normal use, which generate pointless alerts. Follow the manufacturer's advice on position and orientation.
Power supply. The sensors are battery-powered and need no cables. The M100 hub comes without a power supply: that is why the kit has three 5V 2A USB power supplies, one for the hub and two spare for other USB devices you might add. Use a socket that is always live, not one on a switch.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app add the hub first, then the four sensors one at a time with the setup wizard. Name each after its window and room, so the notification tells you straight away where it happened. Give the glass a few test taps with your knuckles to see how the sensor responds and adjust the sensitivity.
Recommended automations. Set up a "Night" mode and an "Away" mode in which vibration on any glazed door or window sends an urgent notification. During the day, when you are at home, just log the events. If you add a siren or a smart light, you can have the same event trigger it to put off anyone forcing the frame.
Contents verified. The T1 vibration sensors pair with the Aqara M100 hub, which acts as coordinator and brings them into the Aqara Home app. The hub comes without a power supply: the kit has three 5V 2A USB power supplies, so the hub works as soon as you open it and two are left for other devices.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

Yes, the T1 vibration sensors cannot join the Wi-Fi on their own: they talk to the Aqara M100 hub, which is included in the kit. The hub takes the events, runs the automations and brings them into the app. You can add other compatible Aqara sensors to the same hub later on.

Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?

The M100 hub supports Matter: through Matter, compatible Aqara devices can appear in Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home, as the manufacturer states for each model. The full set-up, sensitivity included, is still done in the Aqara Home app.

Can the sensor tell a knock from ordinary vibration?

Sensitivity is set per sensor in the app: turn it down on a large window exposed to wind or next to a busy road, turn it up on a quiet frame. It is worth trying a few light and firm knocks over the first few days and adjusting on the basis of the alerts you get.

Do you need an electrician?

No. The sensors stick on with double-sided tape and run on batteries, the hub goes into a USB power supply in an ordinary socket. There are no wires to run to the window frames and no mains wiring.

What happens if there is no internet?

Automations between the Aqara hub and sensors set up locally carry on working without internet, because the M100 hub runs them. With no connection, though, notifications do not reach your phone and you cannot check the status from away: both come back as soon as the line does.

Are batteries included?

The T1 sensors are battery-powered; the type and the stated life are those given by the manufacturer on the product's Amazon listing. Each sensor's charge level is checked in the Aqara Home app, which warns you when it is time to change it.

Can I add more sensors?

Yes. More compatible Aqara vibration sensors, door and window contacts, motion sensors and sirens can be added to the M100 hub. For more than twenty or so devices, or for a house on several floors, get in touch: we will see whether a second hub is needed.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code and the product you cannot find: we will point you to an alternative that works with the Aqara M100 hub and the Aqara Home app, so you keep a combination we have checked and you do not have to hunt for an equivalent model yourself.

Why buy on Amazon?

Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon, as with any other order on the site. The kit is our own work and we checked that the parts work together; delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy.
