What it does
- At home one Shelly 1 Gen3 with LoRa Add-on is on the Wi-Fi and the app; out in the field the other one takes the commands over LoRa radio.
- The LoRa link covers up to 5 km in open country according to the manufacturer, with no SIM and no Wi-Fi at the field.
- The relay out in the field switches a load such as a pump, a solenoid valve or a light, and reports its state back to the house.
- The 7-in-1 weather station measures wind, rain, temperature, humidity and the other local readings.
- With scenes the watering stops when it rains and a notification arrives with strong wind or temperatures close to zero.
- The BLU gateway puts the data from the Bluetooth devices near the house on the network.

How it is installed
Network and gateway. At home you need 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The BLU Gen3 gateway runs off one of the USB power supplies included and goes in a dry, central spot. The weather station goes on a pole out in the clear, away from walls and trees, within range of the devices in the house: only the LoRa link reaches the far field.
The relay and the LoRa Add-on. A LoRa Add-on plugs into each Shelly 1 Gen3, following the manufacturer's instructions. One pair goes at the house, connected to the Wi-Fi; the other out in the field, where a mains supply is still needed to power it and to feed the load it switches. 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel with the installation isolated.
Accessories and wiring. In the field the relay and Add-on go in the IP65 weatherproof box, mounted high up to help radio range, on the pump housing for example. The Wago connectors are for the joints, the IP68 glands for watertight cable entry. At home the second pair can go in an existing box or in a board.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app you add the two relays, set both LoRa Add-ons to the same channel and check that a command sent from the house reaches the field and that the state comes back. Then the weather station and the BLU gateway are paired, following the maker's procedures.
Recommended automations. The relay in the house, driven from the app or on a schedule, sends the switch-on over LoRa to the relay in the field, for the irrigation pump for example. A rule blocks watering if the weather station detects rain. Notifications for strong wind and near-freezing temperatures help you act on spraying and frost protection.
Contents verified. The relay, the LoRa Add-on and the gateway are from the Shelly range and run in the same app; the weather station is the version offered for the Shelly ecosystem. Included are the Wago connectors for the module connections, the IP65 weatherproof box for the relay out in the field, the IP68 glands for watertight cable entry and the USB power supplies, because the gateway's power supply does not come in the box.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Not a traditional hub. At the house the devices use the Wi-Fi and the BLU gateway included; between house and field the link is made by the two LoRa Add-ons fitted to the Shelly 1 Gen3 relays, with no router out in the field.
Does it really reach 5 km?
The manufacturer states up to 5 km in good conditions, with clear line of sight between the two points. Hills, woods and buildings cut the range. Mount the boxes high up and test the link before you fix everything in place.
Do you need power out in the field?
Yes. The Shelly 1 Gen3 relay out in the field has to be powered, and the load it switches, a pump or a solenoid valve, needs its own supply. The kit provides no power of its own: a mains supply is needed where it is installed.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes: the relays are wired at 230V and the connections must be made by qualified personnel with the installation isolated. The gateway and the weather station simply sit in place with no electrical work, as do the LoRa Add-ons, which plug onto the relays.
What happens if the internet at home goes down?
The LoRa link between the two relays does not go through the internet, so the rules set on the devices carry on working. Only the notifications and commands from away are missing, and they return when the line is back.
Are batteries included?
The relay, the LoRa Add-on and the gateway are mains powered and use no batteries. The weather station takes AA batteries as a backup: check on the Amazon listing whether they come in the box, otherwise get hold of them before you install.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more relays with LoRa Add-ons for more points out in the field, temperature sensors for frosts, BLU sensors near the house. It all stays in the same Shelly app and works in the same weather-station scenes.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
