What it does
- In each cold room or refrigerator a stainless steel probe, immersed in a buffer bottle that imitates the inertia of the product, reads the temperature and sends it every 10 minutes to the gateway connected to the company network.
- For frozen goods, a sensor with a display and two PT100 probes follows two points of the sub-zero cold room, or two adjacent freezers: the value can also be read on the spot, without opening.
- For each cold point you set the thresholds: the notification arrives on your smartphone when the temperature leaves the range, at night and on closing days.
- The contacts on the main doors report openings and doors left open beyond the set time.
- The leak sensors under evaporators and condensate drains sound on the spot and alert you when the defrost does not drain.
- The history of every point is continuous, with no hand-written transcriptions, and can be consulted by period from a smartphone and from a PC in support of the self-monitoring plan.

How it is installed
Gateway. On a desk, on a wall or on the ceiling in a dry room, as close as possible to the cold rooms: office, corridor, back of the shop. It is a compact indoor gateway (IP30, operation from -20 to +50 °C): it must not go inside the cold rooms. USB-C 5 V power supply, connection with an Ethernet cable or the company Wi-Fi.
Cold room and refrigerator sensors. Sensor body outside, on the cold room wall or on the side of the refrigerator, with screws or a cable tie: it works from -30 to +55 °C and is IP67. The 50 mm stainless steel probe goes inside, slipped into the buffer bottle after removing the inner cap, on a shelf away from the evaporator. The 1.5 m cable passes through the door gasket or through an existing cable gland.
Frozen goods sensor. Body with display outside the cold room, next to the door, vertical and below eye level; IP65 protection. The two PT100 probes, with a 1.5-2 m cable, go inside at two different points, or in two freezers side by side. Battery power supply or USB-C 5 V.
Doors and leak sensors. Contact on the frame and magnet on the leaf, aligned and no more than 20 mm apart, with screws or double-sided tape; transmitting body next to the door, 1.5 m cable. The manufacturer advises against fixing the magnets in contact with iron parts: on steel sheet doors, check that it works before the final fixing. Leak sensors resting flat under the evaporator or next to the condensate drain: they trigger with 0.5 mm of water. They work from -10 to +60 °C: they must not go in sub-zero cold rooms.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: reading intervals, thresholds, names of cold rooms and refrigerators. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with positions, routing of the probe cables and power-up sequence, and initial configuration of the thresholds based on the storage temperatures indicated when ordering.

Top quality Milesight devices with manufacturer's warranty. Batteries included in all the sensors: about 8 years for the probe sensors and up to 10 for the door contacts with one reading every 10 minutes, over 2.7 years for the sensor with display, which can also be powered from USB-C. The gateway is powered at 5 V from USB-C.

Before ordering
Is an internet connection needed?
It is needed at the point where the gateway is installed: a network socket or the company Wi-Fi coverage. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio. If there is no line at the site, or you do not want to go through the company network, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). It is chosen when ordering.
Does the signal get out of the cold rooms?
The body of the sensors, which contains the radio, stays outside the cold room: only the probe goes inside. The gateway goes in the same building, as close as possible to the cold rooms. For large warehouses, several floors, thick walls or industrial sheds, choose the «large building» version, with a gateway of greater range, IP65 and powerable via PoE. One gateway handles hundreds of devices.
Is the data valid for HACCP?
The temperature sensors of the kit are declared by the manufacturer to be compliant with EN 12830, the standard on temperature recorders for food. They measure every 10 minutes, keep the readings on board as well (4,000 for the probe sensors, 10,000 for the sensor with display) and the history can be consulted by point and by period. How to include it in the self-monitoring plan in place of the paper log is decided by your HACCP officer.
What is the buffer bottle for?
It is a small bottle filled with glass microspheres into which the probe is slipped. It has a thermal inertia similar to that of the product: when the door is opened the air warms up in a few seconds, the product does not, and the probe in the bottle behaves like the product. The alarm thresholds can be kept tight without notifications at every loading.
Is it also suitable for freezers?
Yes, with the sensor with two PT100 probes, provided in the kit for frozen goods: the probes measure down to -40 °C with an accuracy of ±0.5 °C. The probe sensors with buffer bottle also reach -40 °C, but below -10 °C the declared accuracy drops to ±2 °C: for this reason they are intended for cold rooms and refrigerators at positive temperature. If you have more sub-zero points, state it from the contacts section.
I have more than 8 cold points, or more sites
The kit is configured on the site: every additional cold room or refrigerator requires one sensor with its buffer bottle, the gateway and the platform stay the same. Among the product options you will find the 12 and 16 cold point sizes. For more sites the kit is repeated. For serve-over and wall display cabinets and different situations, write to us from the contacts section indicating the number of cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers and doors: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
Probe sensors: about 8 years with one reading every 10 minutes at 25 °C. Door contacts: up to 10 years under the same conditions with about fifty openings a day. Sensor with display and two probes: over 2.7 years, or permanent power supply from USB-C. Leak sensors: over 5 years with a button cell. All the batteries are replaceable and the charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data consulted and are there subscription fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If there is self-monitoring software or a management system, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the power or the internet goes down?
The sensors are battery-powered and keep measuring even during a blackout: when the power comes back you can see how far the temperature rose and for how long. The readings stay in the memory of the temperature sensors, about four weeks at one reading every 10 minutes, and are retransmitted when the connection returns. The notifications on the smartphone resume when the network and the gateway power supply are restored.
Is an electrician or a refrigeration engineer needed?
No. The sensors are battery-powered and are fixed with screws, cable ties or double-sided tape; the probes require no holes, the cable passes through the door gasket. The gateway is powered at 5 V. The kit does not connect to the refrigeration system and does not change the way it works.
