What it does
- In every machine a battery-powered sensor detects the opening and closing of the door with a magnetic contact and measures the temperature and humidity of the cabinet. The openings are transmitted instantly, the measurements every 10 minutes.
- An opening outside the refill hours generates a notification on your smartphone. The history of the openings shows when the operator came by and how long the intervention lasted.
- On refrigerated machines the temperature alarm warns of a failure of the refrigeration unit before the product has to be thrown away.
- The metered socket is inserted between the wall socket and the plug of the machine: it records voltage, current, power and consumption in kWh. An abnormal draw, or a compressor that no longer starts, can be read from the chart.
- From the same socket the machine is switched off and back on remotely: useful to unblock a machine that has stopped or to put a machine out of service while waiting for the intervention.
- A single gateway collects the data from all the machines on the site, even on different floors. History, charts and notifications can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC.

How it is installed
Gateway. In an office, at the reception desk or in a technical room, in a central position with respect to the machines, high up and away from metal masses. It rests on a shelf or is fixed to the wall or to the ceiling with the supplied plate. Indoor device, IP30, operation from -20 to +50 °C. USB-C 5 V/2 A power supply, network connection with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi; where the host network is not available the 4G version is chosen.
Sensor in the machine. The sensor body measures temperature and humidity, so it goes inside the cabinet, fixed with screws, double-sided tape or a cable tie at a point that does not get in the way of refilling and away from the evaporator. It is IP67 and works from -30 to +70 °C. The sheet metal of the cabinet attenuates the radio signal: a high position is preferable, near the door or the display window, along with a reception test before the final fixing.
Contact on the door. The magnetic contact is connected to the sensor with a 1.5 m cable. One part is fixed to the cabinet and one to the door, with double-sided tape or screws, aligned and no more than 20-30 mm apart with the door closed. The two parts must not be mounted right against iron parts: on sheet metal a non-metal spacer is placed in between.
Metered socket. It is plugged into the Schuko wall socket and the plug of the machine is connected to it. It carries up to 16 A and disconnects by itself beyond 30% more than the rated current. It is for indoor use, IP20: it must not be laid on the floor behind the machine where water can reach it, nor near heat sources. The key on the front also switches it on and off by hand.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: name and position of each machine, temperature thresholds, reading intervals. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with the position of the sensor in the cabinet, mounting of the contact on sheet metal doors and the reception test, and initial configuration of names, thresholds and refill hours based on the list of machines provided at the time of order.

Before you order
Do I have to use the network of the company that hosts the machines?
In the basic version, yes: the gateway connects to a network socket or to the Wi-Fi of the site, with the consent of whoever manages it. The sensors and the sockets do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio. If you prefer to stay independent of the host network, choose the version with a 4G gateway: it only requires a power socket and a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month).
My machines are at different sites
Every site needs its own gateway: the radio covers a building, not the town. The kit is designed for a group of machines on the same site, for example a company, a hospital, a school, a station. For machines scattered over several sites, one 4G gateway per site is composed with the necessary sensors, and all the machines are seen in the same app: write to us from the contact section with the list of the sites.
Does one gateway cover machines on several floors?
In a building of normal size, yes: LoRaWAN radio passes through walls and floor slabs far better than Wi-Fi. The range depends on walls, floor slabs and metal structures, which is why the gateway goes in a central position and high up. For plants, hospitals and campuses with several buildings, sheds or many floors, the options include the «large building» version with a longer-range gateway, IP65 and able to be powered over PoE. One gateway handles hundreds of devices.
Does it work with any machine?
Yes, with any machine with a Schuko plug and a draw of up to 16 A: hot drinks, snacks, soft drinks, fresh products, ice cream, water dispensers. No work is done on the electronics or on the payment system: the sensor is fixed inside the cabinet, the socket is plugged into the wall. The kit does not read sales, takings or product levels and does not replace the telemetry of the payment systems. The machines are not included.
Do I notice if the power fails?
The socket measures the mains voltage and records its trend. If the voltage is missing altogether the socket switches off and stops transmitting: on the platform the machine appears offline. On refrigerated machines, in any case, the battery-powered sensor keeps measuring and the temperature alarm arrives even with the socket off.
I have more or fewer than 10 machines
The kit is configured on the site: for each machine a sensor and a socket are added; gateway and platform stay the same. Among the product options you will find the 5 and 20 machine sizes; for different situations write to us from the contact section stating the number of machines, the type and the sites: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
The sensors have a replaceable lithium battery. With one reading every 10 minutes and 48 openings a day the manufacturer states over 10 years in good signal conditions and about four and a half years with a weak signal, as can happen inside a metal cabinet. The charge level is visible in the app. The sockets have no battery.
Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?
On the app and on the portal of the manufacturer, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If you have vending management software or maintenance software, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the internet is down?
The sensors keep working on battery and the machines stay powered. The new readings reach the platform when the connection is restored; the switch-off and switch-on commands go through the network and with no line they cannot be sent. Where the host network is not reliable, the 4G version is preferable.
Is an electrician needed? Can it be used outdoors?
No electrician is needed: the sensors are battery powered, the sockets are plugged in, the gateway is powered from a socket via USB-C. The sensors are IP67. Metered sockets and gateway are for indoor use (IP20 and IP30): the kit is suitable for machines in enclosed spaces, not for machines under a canopy or outdoors.
