Customisable kits. This is one of the Milesight LoRaWAN kits in the Smart Home section. For different installations, custom kits or bespoke automation, write to us from the contact section.
Several sizes. The figures, diagram and table on this page describe the «8 tables» size. The other sizes are selected at the top and are listed further down, under «Available sizes».
8 table buttonsOne press calls the waiter, two ask for the bill: the notification arrives in the dining room.
CO2 on a displayTwo sensors with a screen: the air value is readable by the customers too.
Entrances and noiseFootfall by time slot at the door and sound level in the dining room, from 30 to 120 dB.
2 customer toiletsFree or occupied status and history of use to schedule the cleaning rounds.

What it does

  • The button fixed to the table distinguishes three types of press: short, double and long. A message is associated with each one, for example call, bill and urgent request, which arrives as a notification on the dining room smartphone or tablet with the name of the table.
  • The people counter above the door counts entries and exits in both directions and returns the footfall by time slot and by day. It is a passive infrared sensor with a stated accuracy of up to 80%: a trend figure, not a fiscal count of covers.
  • The two ambient sensors measure CO2 from 400 to 5,000 ppm, temperature and humidity, with one reading every 10 minutes. The always-on display shows the values in the dining room; beyond the set threshold the alert to open up or increase the air change arrives.
  • The sound level sensor measures the noise in the dining room from 30 to 120 dB, with average and peak value: it serves to adjust the music and the layout of the tables and to document the levels in the evening hours.
  • The sensors in the toilets detect whether the room is occupied, even with a person keeping still, and record the uses: the staff go to clean according to actual use.
  • No device captures images or records audio: what is measured is movements, presence and decibels.
  • History, charts and notifications can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC.
For a different number of tables, several dining rooms or a covered terrace, more entrances to count, additional toilets, or if the premises have no internet connection and a 4G gateway is needed: tell us the features of your dining room from the contact section and we will propose the right configuration with a quotation.
Litio Store restaurant dining room kit: installation diagram in the dining room of a restaurant
1Compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway, behind the till or in the office, connected to the network of the premises: it collects the data from all the sensors and takes it to the cloud.
2Passage people counter on the ceiling, inside, beyond the swing of the entrance door.
3CO2, temperature and humidity sensor with display, on the wall at least 1.5 m from the floor. Two in the kit.
4Sound level sensor in the dining room, away from speakers and the coffee machine.
5Call button on the table. Eight in the kit.
6Occupancy sensor on the ceiling in the customer toilet. Two in the kit.

How it is installed

Gateway. Behind the till, in the office or at a central point of the premises, high up and away from metal masses. It rests on a shelf or is fixed to the wall or to the ceiling with the supplied plate. Indoor device, IP30, operation from -20 to +50 °C. USB-C 5 V/2 A power supply, network connection with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
People counter at the entrance. On the ceiling, facing downwards, at a height of 2 to 3 m: it covers an opening of about 2.5 m when mounted at 2.4 m and of 3.1 m when mounted at 3 m. It must be kept at least 45 cm from the walls, out of the range of the door leaf and not facing glazing; away from air curtains, air conditioners and heat sources. Alternatively on the wall at the side of the passage, 1.2-1.3 m from the floor, for openings up to 2.3 m. Fixing with wall plugs and screws.
Air and noise. CO2 sensors on the wall, at least 1.5 m from the floor, with double-sided tape or screws and an anti-theft screw; not next to doors, windows, vents, air conditioners, ovens or refrigerators, and never upside down. Sound level sensor at a height of 1.2-1.5 m, at least 1 m from walls and reflecting surfaces and about 1.5 m from doors and windows, not right against the noise source and with the microphone unobstructed; in small rooms the manufacturer recommends ceiling mounting.
Buttons and toilets. Buttons fixed to the table top or to a holder with the supplied double-sided tape or screws, away from liquids: they are for indoor use. Toilet sensor on the ceiling, at a height of 2.5 to 3 m, facing the front of the bowl and with its centre 10-20 cm from the centre of the bowl; it must not point towards the door, mirrors or glass and must be kept away from water. With the test mode you check that the movement of the door does not trigger it.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: name of each table, meaning of the presses, CO2 and noise thresholds, reading intervals. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with heights, distances and positions for each sensor, and initial configuration of buttons, thresholds and names based on the dining room plan and the list of tables provided at the time of order.

Available sizes

The size is chosen at the top, together with the version and the connectivity. The diagram, the photo and the table above show the «8 tables» size; with the other sizes only the quantities of the devices listed below change, the rest of the kit is identical.

  • 4 tables: 4 call buttons
  • 8 tables: 8 call buttons
  • 12 tables: 12 call buttons
  • 16 tables: 16 call buttons

In the complete kit the installation material related to these devices (brackets, sumps, clips, cables, boxes) follows the size chosen. For a different size write to us from the contact section.

Available connectivity

  • Customer network (Ethernet/Wi-Fi): 1 compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway
  • Built-in 4G: 1 compact LoRaWAN gateway with 4G. SIM not included
  • Large building: 1 semi-industrial LoRaWAN gateway. Semi-industrial IP65 gateway, PoE, greater range: thick walls, several floors or several buildings

Before you order

Do you need an internet connection on the premises?

You need it at the point where the gateway is installed: a network socket or the Wi-Fi coverage of the premises. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio, and they do not weigh on the customers' network. If the premises have no line, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). It is chosen at the time of order.

Does one gateway cover the dining room, the toilets and the terrace?

In premises on one or two floors, yes: LoRaWAN radio passes through walls and floor slabs far better than Wi-Fi. The range inside a building depends on walls and metal structures, which is why the gateway goes in a central position and high up. For premises in historic buildings with thick walls, on many floors or with several buildings, the options include the «large building» version with a longer-range gateway, IP65 and able to be powered over PoE. One gateway handles hundreds of devices.

How does the call reach the waiter?

As a notification from the manufacturer's app on the smartphone or the tablet you keep in the dining room, with the name of the table and the type of request, a few seconds after the press. The button confirms the sending with a light and sound signal. If you already use a dining room management system or a till system that accepts external data, the calls can also be sent there (MQTT or HTTP). Smartphone and tablet are not included.

Are the customers filmed or recorded?

No. The people counter uses two passive infrared sensors, the toilet sensors a distance meter and a passive infrared, the noise sensor returns only the value in decibels. No device has a camera and none records audio.

How accurate is the counting of entrances?

The manufacturer states an accuracy of up to 80%: groups entering side by side or people standing still in the doorway may be counted imprecisely. The figure is suitable for comparing time slots, days and weeks, not for replacing the count of covers.

I have more than 8 tables or several dining rooms

The kit is configured on the premises: one button is added for each table, one ambient sensor for each dining room, one people counter for each entrance; gateway and platform stay the same. Among the product options you will find the 12 and 16 table sizes; for different situations write to us from the contact section stating the number of tables, dining rooms, entrances and toilets: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.

Battery life

The manufacturer states 7 to 9 years for the buttons with 10 presses a day, about 4 years for the people counter with 1,000 passages a day and for the toilet sensors, 3 to 4 and a half years for the CO2 sensors with display, up to 5 years for the noise sensor. The values refer to 25 °C and depend on the reading interval and the quality of the signal. The batteries are lithium, replaceable, and the charge level is visible in the app.

Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?

On the app and on the portal of the manufacturer, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If you have a management system or a till system, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.

What happens if the internet is down?

The sensors keep measuring and the CO2 displays stay updated. The people counter keeps the counts in memory and retransmits them when the connection comes back. The calls from the tables, on the other hand, need the line in order to arrive as a notification: with no network they are not delivered.

Is an electrician needed? Can I use it outdoors?

No electrician is needed: all the sensors are battery powered and are fixed with double-sided tape or screws, the gateway is powered from a socket via USB-C. All the devices are for indoor use, with IP30 protection: on the terrace the buttons are used only if the space is covered and sheltered from rain and humidity; in the toilets the sensor goes on the ceiling, away from water.

What is not included
  • The dining room smartphone or tablet on which to receive the calls
  • The data SIM, in the version with the 4G gateway
  • Any table holders for the buttons
  • In the "devices only" version: network cable, small fittings and labels
