Temperature of the refrigerated compartment at two points with probes in buffer bottles, door opening and GPS position of the vehicle. On-board 4G gateway powered by the vehicle, battery-powered sensors, data and alarms from the app during the delivery round.
What it does
- Two sensors measure the temperature of the compartment every 10 minutes, one towards the refrigeration unit and one towards the doors, and send it to the 4G gateway installed in the cab.
- The probes are immersed in buffer bottles that imitate the inertia of the product: the openings for unloading do not trigger the alarm, a failure of the refrigeration unit does.
- When the thresholds are exceeded, the notification arrives on the smartphone of whoever is at the depot and of the driver.
- The contact on the doors records every opening: at the end of the round you can see how many times and when the compartment was opened, next to the temperature curve.
- The tracker sends the GPS position at configurable intervals or when the vehicle moves: stops and routes stay in the history.
- With the vehicle stopped and the gateway off, the sensors keep recording and retransmit the readings when it is switched on again.
- The history of every trip can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC.

How it is installed
What is in the kit

| Qty | Device | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Compact LoRaWAN gateway with 4G modem | Collects the data of the on-board sensors and sends it to the cloud. USB-C 5 V or 5-12 V DC power supply. |
| 2 | Temperature sensor with external stainless steel probe, IP67 | Temperature of the compartment at two points. Memory of 4,000 readings, compliant with EN 12830. |
| 2 | Buffer bottle with glass microspheres | Houses the probe and damps its variations when the doors are opened. |
| 1 | Magnetic contact for doors | Records openings and closings of the compartment. |
| 1 | Battery-powered GPS and Wi-Fi tracker, IP67 | Position of the vehicle at intervals or on movement, with a memory of 1,000 positions. |

Before ordering
What SIM is needed?
A data SIM in micro format, from any operator, not included. The traffic is below 1 GB per month. For trips abroad, check the data roaming of your plan. The kit does not use Wi-Fi networks or the depot network: the gateway travels with the vehicle.
Is it suitable for 12 V vans and for 24 V trucks?
The gateway accepts 5 V from USB-C or 5-12 V DC. On 12 V vehicles it is powered from the on-board socket with the cable with fuse of the complete kit, or from a USB-C socket. On 24 V vehicles a voltage converter with a USB-C 5 V output is needed: state it from the contacts section. To have the data sent even with the ignition off, the power must be taken from a permanent positive: that is a job for an auto electrician.
Does the data count as a record of the transport temperature?
The temperature sensors are declared by the manufacturer to be compliant with EN 12830, the standard on temperature recorders for the transport and storage of food, and the history is continuous, with date and time. The declared accuracy is ±0.5 °C between -10 and +85 °C and ±2 °C below -10 °C: for frozen goods, where the vehicle's temperature recorder is mandatory, the kit works alongside it and does not replace it.
What happens with the vehicle stopped or where there is no 4G coverage?
The sensors are battery-powered and always measure, even at night with the ignition off. If the gateway is off, the readings stay in the memory of the sensors (4,000 readings, about four weeks at one every 10 minutes) and are retransmitted when it is switched on again. In areas without coverage, the notifications arrive when the signal returns. With a permanent power supply the gateway stays on and the sending continues even with the vehicle stopped.
Is the position in real time?
No. The tracker sends the position at configurable intervals or when it detects movement, and the battery life depends on this choice: over 4 years with one position an hour, over 8 with ten positions a day. It is there to know where the vehicle was at each delivery and to reconstruct stops and routes, not to follow the vehicle on the map second by second. Where GPS does not get a fix, it uses the surrounding Wi-Fi networks to estimate the position.
Does the door contact stand up to the compartment?
It is an indoor contact, IP20, with operation from -20 to +60 °C: mounted inside, high up, sheltered from water, it works in compartments for chilled goods. For compartments washed with a jet, with heavy condensation or for frozen goods at lower temperatures, ask from the contacts section for it to be replaced with an IP67 contact.
I have a fleet
The kit is for one vehicle and is repeated for each one: each has its own gateway and its own SIM. For fleets, semi-trailers, multi-temperature compartments or more doors, write to us from the contacts section indicating the number and type of vehicles: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
Temperature sensors: about 8 years with one reading every 10 minutes at 25 °C. Door contact: about 5 years. Tracker: from over 4 to over 8 years depending on the position frequency. The batteries are lithium and replaceable; the charge level is visible in the app. The gateway draws about 3 W from the vehicle.
Where is the data consulted and are there subscription fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use, apart from the cost of your SIM. If there is a logistics management system or fleet software, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
Who fits it? Are holes needed in the compartment?
You fit it yourself: sensors, contact and tracker are battery-powered and are fixed with screws, double-sided tape or cable ties. The only step to consider is routing the cable of the front probe through the bulkhead: if there is no cable gland, that sensor too is fixed inside the compartment and no hole is needed.
What is not included
- The vehicle and the refrigeration unit
- The data SIM for the gateway
- The voltage converter for 24 V vehicles and any connection to a permanent positive
- In the "devices only" version: power cable, protective box, clips and small parts
