SolarEdge Home Battery 48V V2 4.6kWh Low Voltage LiFePO4 Module for Three-Phase Inverters
The SolarEdge Home Battery 48V V2 4.6kWh is the low voltage storage module of the SolarEdge Home ecosystem, in the version reserved for three-phase inverters (manufacturer part number BAT-05K48M0B-02). It stores what the solar array produces during the day and gives it back as the sun goes down or, on residential installations prepared for it, when the grid fails.
The connection is DC coupled, straight to the inverter: compared with an AC coupled battery less energy is lost in the double conversion, and the peak round-trip efficiency declared by SolarEdge is above 94.5%. The 4.6kWh is usable energy, stated at 100% depth of discharge: there is no hidden reserve to subtract. Capacity grows by stacking modules on the same inverter, up to 23kWh — start with one battery and add the others when consumption changes. Solar, storage, EV charging and smart devices are all read and managed from a single app.
On power SolarEdge draws a distinction: with a single module continuous power is 2825W charging and 4096W discharging, while with multiple modules it rises to 5000W both ways. Stacking the second battery is therefore worth it for the power alone, not just for the capacity.
Installation is plug and play, with automatic SetApp-based configuration. The module pairs with a SolarEdge three-phase inverter: check the exact model against the official SolarEdge compatibility matrix. Backup functions are available for residential installations only and remain subject to local regulations, possibly with additional components and a firmware upgrade. The top cover, the floorstand and the cables to the inverter or between batteries are separate parts, to be planned for at design stage. Since January 2025 storage capacity has increased by 5.5%, to 4.85kWh, for batteries connected to new installations of Home Hub three-phase inverters.
