BMG (Bi-directional Motor Generator) is the 48 V alternator that delivers up to 10 kW of silent power straight off the engine, with no separate generator to install. Being bi-directional it can also assist engine cranking. Mounts cover J-180, pad mount, Sprinter and the main marine bases.

How it works

The BMG replaces (or joins) the original alternator on the same belt and works at 48 V instead of 12 V: for the same current it moves four times the energy, so a single unit reaches 10 kW with no generator added. Being a bi-directional motor-generator it can also run in reverse and help with cranking. Its output feeds the 48 V bank through Scotty AI, which handles charging and thermal protection. The available mounts (J-180, pad, Sprinter, Volvo and Cummins marine bases) cover the engines most common on trucks, boats and vans.
