What it does
- The two Shelly Outdoor Plug S Gen3 sockets, rated IP44, switch the garden's spotlights and string lights.
- The outdoor Sonoff S61s socket, IP44, controls the fountain or pond pump.
- The lights come on at sunset and go off at a set time; the pump runs to a schedule.
- With Matter the three sockets can sit in one voice app and be switched together: “garden off”.
- From away you can check that the lights and the pump are off.

How it is installed
Wi-Fi network. No hub is needed: the three plugs connect straight to the home Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz. In a garden the signal drops off quickly: check with your phone that it reaches every spot where the plugs will go. If the signal is weak, an outdoor Wi-Fi repeater, or one near the window, solves the problem.
Shelly sockets for the lights. The two Outdoor Plug S Gen3 sockets go into the existing outdoor outlets, sheltered from direct rain and standing water, with the plug of spotlights or string lights. Do not use multi-way blocks or extension leads that are not rated for outdoor use between the wall outlet and the smart socket. Stay within the maximum power the manufacturer gives.
Sonoff socket for the pump. The S61s socket goes in the outdoor socket nearest the fountain or the pond, off the ground and away from splashes. The pump has to restart on its own when it gets power. Outdoor sockets in the garden have to be protected by an RCD, as required for outdoor installations: check this with your electrician.
App and pairing. The Shelly sockets are added in the Shelly app and the Sonoff socket in the eWeLink app, each with its own guided procedure. To control them all from one app, add them through Matter to Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home using the devices' Matter codes. Give them clear names: "spotlights", "string lights", "fountain".
Recommended automations. Lights on at sunset and off at 23:30. Fountain pump on during the day in set time bands, off at night. In the voice app, a “garden” scene brings lights and fountain on together when you have guests. On holiday, lights on a schedule to suggest a house that is lived in.
Contents verified. The Shelly Outdoor Plug S Gen3 and Sonoff S61s sockets are IP44 outdoor units, Wi-Fi and Matter-compatible: each is managed in its own app and all of them come together in Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home through Matter, with no hub. The kit needs no accessories: they are plug-in sockets to put into the existing outdoor outlets.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The three plugs are Wi-Fi and connect straight to the home router. To use Matter with Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa you need that platform's Matter controller, for example a compatible speaker or hub, if you do not already have one.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
Yes: the sockets are Matter compatible and are added to Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home with the Matter code. Alternatively, the Shelly units connect through the Shelly integration and the Sonoff one through the eWeLink integration. With Matter you run them all from the same app.
Do you need an electrician?
No, provided the garden already has suitable outdoor sockets: the smart plugs go straight into them. If there are no outdoor sockets, or they are not RCD-protected, bringing them up to standard is an electrician's job and is not part of the kit.
Can I use them in the rain?
They are IP44, protected against splashing water from any direction, not against immersion or direct jets. Fit them in outdoor sockets raised off the ground, where water does not collect, and away from the sprinkler spray and the splashing of the fountain.
What happens if there is no internet?
The sockets can still be controlled from their own key and, depending on the platform, locally through Matter. Without internet you cannot control them from away. Schedules saved on the Shelly devices carry on working without a connection.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more outdoor sockets, modules for the garden's fixed lighting or an irrigation timer. With Matter, devices from other brands are controlled from the same voice app, alongside those in the kit.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
