System architecture

19-inch cabinet architecture with CBMS, GBMS and battery modules

Protezione e gestione su più livelli

Every cabinet is organised around a multi-level management architecture, from the single cell right up to the coordination of several cabinets in parallel:

Cell / module (BMU): every battery module has its own management unit monitoring cell voltage, temperature and balancing
Cabinet (CBMS): manages the whole bank of modules in the rack: total current, protective devices, contactors and external communication
Gruppo (GBMS – Group Battery Management System): coordinates several cabinets in parallel and acts as the communication interface with the UPS

Communication runs over CAN2.0, RS485 and Ethernet/LAN, with dry contacts for direct integration with UPS units and third-party supervisory systems.

What the kit includes

Cabinet 19"

Standard 19-inch rack cabinet housing the battery modules and the management electronics, ready to install in a switch room or data centre.

LiFePO4 battery module

Module built with high-grade LiFePO4 cells and an integrated BMU that controls voltage, temperature and balancing cell by cell.

CBMS – Cabinet BMS

Cabinet management unit: it protects against overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature, balances the modules and communicates with the UPS/PC.

GBMS – Group BMS

A higher supervisory layer that coordinates several cabinets in parallel and centralises communication with the UPS. Standard on high-power systems, available as an option on the other models.

Positive and negative link bridges between battery modules

Ponti positivo/negativo

Cables linking the battery modules to build up the total system voltage.

BMU communication cables

They daisy-chain the battery modules, from the first pack through to the CBMS, carrying data between the BMUs and the cabinet management unit.

Earth cable

For earthing the cabinet, as standard electrical safety practice requires.

Espandibile in parallelo

Several cabinets, one single system

Several cabinets can be connected in parallel through a confluence cabinet, sharing DC lines, communication and earthing. The GBMS coordinates the individual CBMS units as one single system, so overall capacity can grow without replacing the existing installation.
