What it does
- The Aqara E1 2K camera pans and tilts from the app: frame the cot, the bed or the play corner and record to microSD.
- The three door/window contacts stick onto drawers and cupboards holding cleaning products, medicines or tools and warn as soon as they are opened.
- The smoke detector sounds in the house and sends the alarm to your phone even when you are in another room or out.
- The T1 sensor measures the temperature and humidity in the child's room: you know whether it is too warm or too dry for the night.
- You can take the contact alerts only at certain times, when the children are awake for instance.

How it is installed
Hub and network. The M100 hub plugs into a USB power supply, included in the kit, in a socket in a central position and connects to the home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Keep it high up and out of children's reach. The camera uses Wi-Fi directly: check that the signal is good where you put it.
Camera. The E1 camera goes on a shelf or a high piece of furniture, out of the children's reach, with the power lead clipped along the wall and away from the cot. Fit the High Endurance microSD supplied before switching it on: it is made for continuous recording. Then set the framing from the app.
Contacts, smoke and climate. The contacts stick on with double-sided tape: the body on the unit, the magnet on the drawer or the door, lined up and close together when shut. The smoke detector goes on the ceiling of the hallway or the living room, away from the hob. The T1 sensor goes in the child's bedroom at mid height, away from the radiator and the window.
App and pairing. Install Aqara Home and add the M100 hub first, then pair the contacts, the smoke detector and the T1 sensor with the hub, following each product's own procedure. The camera is added separately over Wi-Fi. Rename each contact after the unit it is on, “detergent cupboard” or “medicine drawer” for example.
Recommended automations. Cleaning-products cupboard or medicine drawer opened: an immediate notification. Smoke detected: alarm and a notification to both parents. Children's room above or below the chosen temperature band: a notification. Cleaning-products door opened during the day: the camera turns to that area. Contact notifications can be limited to the hours when the children are awake.
Contents verified. Contacts, smoke alarm and T1 sensor are Aqara Zigbee and pair with the M100 hub; the E1 camera runs on Wi-Fi in the same Aqara Home app, where every device can be used in the same automations. A High Endurance microSD for the camera recordings is included, along with a 5V USB power supply for the hub, which does not come with one.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes, for the contacts, the smoke detector and the T1 sensor: the M100 hub included links them to the Wi-Fi and to the Aqara Home app. The camera, on the other hand, joins the house Wi-Fi directly and runs in the same app.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
The M100 hub supports Matter, and Aqara devices also reach Alexa and Google Home through the Aqara Home app integration; and Apple Home through Matter or HomeKit where the product supports it, as the manufacturer states. History, notifications and the full automations stay in the Aqara Home app.
Do the contacts stop doors and windows from opening?
No. The contacts report an opening with a notification, they do not stop anyone opening. On the riskiest doors and drawers they should be used alongside ordinary child safety locks: together, the two systems tell you if a lock has been got past or left open.
Where is the video stored?
On the High Endurance microSD included, in the camera: the footage stays in the house. You play it back and watch live from the app. Any cloud services from the manufacturer are optional and are not part of the kit.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The hub and the camera plug into a socket, the sensors are battery-powered and fix with double-sided tape or screws. There is no 230V wiring: you just need a free socket near each installation point.
What happens if there is no internet?
Automations between devices paired to the same hub carry on locally, as the manufacturer specifies, and the sensors carry on detecting. Without internet, though, notifications do not reach your phone and you cannot see or control anything from away. When the line comes back everything resumes on its own.
Are batteries included?
The contacts, the smoke detector and the T1 sensor run on batteries, supplied in the box according to the manufacturer. The charge level shows in the Aqara Home app, which warns when it is time to replace it.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more contacts for windows and doors, a flood sensor in the bathroom, a button or a second camera. The M100 Hub handles plenty of Aqara devices in the same app, and new sensors drop straight into the existing automations.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
