Smart home kit, wired PoE video surveillance, 3 Aqara 4K cameras and network switch

Not for the cameras: they connect to the home network, the two outdoor ones by cable and the G350 over Wi-Fi. The G350, though, also acts as an Aqara hub: if you later want to add Aqara door contacts, motion sensors or leak sensors, they pair with it without buying another hub.

PoE carries power and data on the same network cable. No sockets or power supplies are needed on the façade, and the images do not depend on Wi-Fi coverage, which is often weak outdoors. The included switch powers the cameras through the kit's cables.

The kit is rated as installer work because of the outdoor network cabling and the holes through walls. There is no 230V wiring: the switch plugs into an ordinary socket. If you need to add a socket near the router, that job goes to qualified personnel with the supply isolated.

The manufacturer states that the Aqara cameras in the kit work with Apple Home, HomeKit Secure Video included with an Apple hub, and with Alexa and Google Home for viewing on compatible screens. The full range of functions is set up in the Aqara Home app.

The cameras carry on recording to the microSD cards, because the local network between switch, router and cameras stays up. Without internet you get no notifications and cannot see the images from outside the house; the recordings are reviewed when the line comes back.

They cover most houses with the router on the ground floor. Measure the route the cable actually takes, not the straight-line distance: risers, corners and runs through walls all add length. If you need more cable, get in touch with your measurements and we will tell you the right length.

The switch has PoE ports free beyond the two used by the G5 Pro cameras: you can add other compatible Aqara PoE cameras, each with its own cable and microSD. For more cameras or long runs get in touch and we will check the setup.
