Three Aqara cameras built for iPhone users: two G100 2K units and one motorised E1 2K, all compatible with HomeKit Secure Video. You see them in Apple's Home app alongside the other accessories, you get notifications with Apple's own people, animal and vehicle recognition, and you still have the microSD to record locally as well.
What it does
- The two G100 units and the E1 join the Wi-Fi and are added to Apple's Home app as HomeKit accessories.
- With HomeKit Secure Video the event clips are analysed by the Apple hub in the house and stored encrypted on iCloud.
- The notifications tell people, animals, vehicles and parcels apart, according to what HomeKit Secure Video does.
- The E1 pans and tilts: from the Aqara Home app you point it at the area you care about.
- Each camera has its own 64GB microSD for local recording, managed from the Aqara Home app.
- In the Home app's automations the cameras switch on or off as you leave or come back.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No Aqara hub is needed: the cameras connect to the Wi-Fi. HomeKit Secure Video, on the other hand, needs an Apple home hub, that is a HomePod or an Apple TV, which analyses the images and handles the recordings. Without the Apple hub the cameras still work in the Aqara Home app.
Do you need a subscription?
HomeKit Secure Video needs an iCloud+ plan that covers cameras: the clips are stored encrypted on iCloud and do not use up the plan's storage. Instead of that, or as well, each camera records to its own microSD, included, with no subscription.
Does it work with Android, Alexa and Google?
The kit is built around the iPhone and the Home app. The cameras can still be used in the Aqara Home app, which is on Android too. For Alexa and Google compatibility, see each model's Amazon listing.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The cameras run off an ordinary socket and either sit on a cabinet or fix to the wall with the bracket. There is no mains wiring to do.
What happens if there is no internet?
With the router on, the cameras carry on recording to the microSD cards. Without internet, though, the clips do not reach iCloud, you get no notifications and cannot see the picture from outside the house: everything resumes when the line comes back.
Can I add devices?
Yes: other HomeKit Secure Video cameras and any HomeKit or Matter accessory can be added to the Home app. If you want to add Aqara sensors, you also need an Aqara hub: get in touch and we will tell you which one.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code and the product you cannot find: we will point you to an alternative that works with HomeKit Secure Video, so you keep a combination we have checked and you do not have to hunt for an equivalent model yourself.
Why buy on Amazon?
Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon, as with any other order on the site. The kit is our own work and we checked that the parts work together; delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy.
