Who it is forRooms with several lighting points controlled from the same 503 box.
What you monitorUp to seven lights: three on each M5 and one on the T5 by the entrance.
How you control itMechanical and touch keys, the eWeLink app, Alexa, Google and schedules.
InstallationBy an electrician: the switch inserts in the 503 boxes are replaced, with a neutral in the box.

What it does

  • Each three-button Sonoff M5 controls three lights from the same 503 box, for example the pendant, the spotlights and the LED strip in the living room.
  • The one-gang T5 touch switch goes in the hallway: a premium finish for the main light or for a scene.
  • In the eWeLink app each key can also be operated away from home and used in scenes and schedules.
  • With the eWeLink skill the lights answer Alexa and Google voice commands.
  • The buttons carry on working as ordinary switches even with no connection.
Need one- or two-gang switches, more rooms or a version without a neutral? Get in touch through the contact page with a list of the switch points and we will suggest the right configuration.

How it is installed

Wi-Fi network and checks. The switches join the home Wi-Fi at 2.4GHz, with no hub. Before buying, check that a neutral reaches the 503 back boxes, which the M5 and T5 need, and that the router signal is good at the switch positions. Count the switched lives: a three-button M5 belongs where three separate lights arrive.
M5 and T5 switches. Switch off at the main breaker, take off the plate and the inserts and note which conductor goes to which light. Wire live, neutral and the lamp returns to the terminals as the manufacturer's diagram shows, then fix the switch to the 503 box. 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated.
Connections with Wago connectors. The Wago 221 lever connectors in the kit are for taking the neutral across to the switch and for joining conductors tidily. With three switched lives the box fills up: dress the cables into the back before fixing the module and check that the faceplate closes flat.
eWeLink app. Switch the supply back on, download the eWeLink app and add the switches one at a time following the wizard, usually by holding a button until the LED flashes. Name each button after the light it controls. Then link the eWeLink account to Alexa or Google Home.
Recommended automations. Use the T5 by the door for a “coming home” scene that switches on the main living room light, and build a “going out” scene that turns everything off. Add an evening schedule that switches the LED strip off at a fixed time. The scenes can be called up by voice too.
Contents verified. The M5 and T5 switches are Sonoff Wi-Fi units, type 120 for the Italian 503 back box, and run in the same eWeLink app with the same scenes and the same voice assistants. The kit includes the Wago lever connectors for the wiring, handy for taking the neutral across to the switches.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

No. The Sonoff M5 and T5 switches connect straight to the home Wi-Fi on the 2.4GHz band and are managed in the eWeLink app. A router with a decent signal at the switch points is enough: there is no bridge to buy.

Does it work with Alexa and Google?

Yes, through the eWeLink app: you link the eWeLink account in the Alexa app or in Google Home and the lights show up among the devices, to switch on and off by voice or to put in routines. The scenes you build in eWeLink stay available with no assistant at all.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes. The switches replace the inserts in the 503 boxes and need a neutral. 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated. Setting things up in the app, though, you can do yourself on your phone.

What if there is no neutral in the box?

The M5 and the T5 need a neutral in the box. The electrician can bring one across from the junction box, if there is a spare conductor or one can be pulled in. There are also modules that work without a neutral: get in touch through the contact page and we will suggest the right kit.

What happens if there is no internet?

The buttons carry on switching the lights on and off, like ordinary switches. Control from away, the voice assistants and the scenes in the eWeLink cloud return when the connection is back.

Can I add more switches?

Yes. The eWeLink app handles plenty of Sonoff devices together: you can add more M5 units in one, two or three-gang versions, more T5 units or modules behind the inserts. Get in touch through the contact page for a build we have checked.

Are batteries included?

Not needed: the switches are powered from the 230V circuit in the back box. The kit contains no remotes or battery sensors; if you add a wireless button or a sensor later, the batteries follow the manufacturer's specifications.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

It happens, above all with some variants. Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code and the item that is missing: we will point you to an alternative that works with the other parts, so you keep a combination we have checked and you do not have to hunt for a substitute that fits the rest.

Why buy on Amazon?

We put the kit together and checked it ourselves, choosing parts that work with each other. Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon, item by item: delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy, under each product seller's own terms.
