What it does
- The eight Shelly 1 Mini Gen3 hide behind the light switches: on from the app, by voice and on a schedule, with the wall switch working as before.
- The three Shelly 2PM Gen3 units in roller-shutter mode control up, down and position as a percentage, with the up/down button always live.
- The two Shelly Plug units for Italian sockets switch plug-in appliances such as floor lamps, fan heaters or the coffee machine on and off.
- The Shelly BLU RC Button 4 remote has four assignable keys, for example all lights off, shutters down, living room light, floor lamp: the Gen3 devices pick up its Bluetooth signal.
- With the app scenes everything goes off as you leave and the shutters close at sunset.
- Every device joins the home Wi-Fi: no hub is needed.

How it is installed
Wi-Fi network. Every device joins the router directly on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, with no hub. With thirteen Wi-Fi devices it pays to have a router that handles plenty of them at once and good coverage in every room, inside the wall boxes too: if an area is weak, sort it out with a repeater or a mesh system before you start fitting.
Light relays and roller shutter modules. With the supply isolated, the electrician fits the Shelly 1 Mini Gen3 units behind the light switches and the Shelly 2PM Gen3 units in the roller-shutter push-button boxes, wired to line and neutral, following the manufacturer's diagrams. The existing switches and faceplates stay as they are. Work on 230V must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Connections and back boxes. The 75-piece set of Wago 221 lever connectors covers all the modules' joints. If there is no room behind the switch insert, the optional deep 503 boxes replace the existing one; as an alternative the modules go in the Gewiss junction box, also optional. The Shelly Plug sockets need no work: they plug into an existing socket.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app each device is added to the Wi-Fi one at a time and given a clear name per room. The 2PM are set to roller shutter mode and calibrated with a full travel. Then the BLU remote is paired with one of the Gen3 devices and its four buttons are assigned.
Recommended automations. “Going out” scene: it turns off every light and socket and closes the shutters. Shutters down at sunset and partly up in the morning on weekdays. The hall light on a timer in the evening while you are out. The heater or coffee machine socket switching itself off after a set time.
Contents verified. The Shelly 1 Mini Gen3, Shelly 2PM Gen3 and Shelly Plug are managed from the same Shelly app over Wi-Fi, and the Gen3 devices pick up the BLU RC Button 4 remote without a separate gateway. The 75-piece set of Wago 221 lever connectors is included for the modules' joints. Optional: the deep 503 boxes, if a module will not fit behind the switch insert, and the Gewiss junction box, to mount the modules in the junction box.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. All the Shelly devices connect straight to the home Wi-Fi and the BLU remote is picked up by the Gen3 devices. You need a router with a 2.4GHz network, good coverage in every room and the capacity to handle a lot of devices.
Can I keep the plates I have?
Yes: the relays and roller-shutter modules go behind the existing switch inserts, which carry on working as they do now. The Shelly Plug sockets go into the existing Italian sockets. The boxes need a neutral.
Does it work with Alexa and Google?
Yes: you link the Shelly account to the Alexa app or to Google Home and the lights, roller shutters and sockets appear among the devices you can control by voice. For Home Assistant users there is the Shelly integration, which works on the local network.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes for the relays and the roller-shutter modules: they wire into the 230V line in the back boxes and the work must be done by qualified personnel with the installation isolated, following the manufacturer's diagrams. The Shelly Plug sockets and the remote, on the other hand, need no work at all.
What happens if there is no internet?
Wall switches and push-buttons carry on working. As long as the home Wi-Fi is up, the BLU remote and the app on the local network still work; without internet you lose control from outside and the voice assistants.
Can I add more devices?
Yes: more Shelly relays, roller-shutter modules, sockets and sensors are added from the app just like the first ones, plus more BLU remotes for the rooms. With a lot of Wi-Fi devices, the router's capacity matters.
Are batteries included?
The relays, the modules and the sockets are mains powered. The BLU RC Button 4 remote uses a CR2032 button cell; whether it comes in the box is stated on the product's Amazon listing.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
