Belcom 4402P2454 RS485 Communication Cable 2x2x24AWG Screened LSZH 600V per Metre

This is the RS-485 communication cable you run between the devices that talk over a serial bus in an installation: battery BMS units, energy meters, inverters, monitoring gateways. It is sold per metre, so you buy the length you need and nothing is left over.

The construction is that of a properly built data cable: two twisted pairs (4 cores, 2x2x24AWG) in stranded tinned copper with polyethylene insulation, an overall aluminium/polyester tape screen, a drain wire and a tinned copper braid at 80% coverage. That double screen is what keeps out the noise from inverters and power cables running nearby: on an RS-485 bus it is the difference between a stable link and readings that come and go.

The outer jacket is LSZH, low smoke and halogen free, and it is UV-stable, so the cable can be run where daylight reaches it. Rated voltage is 600V and the manufacturer lists use on RS-485 and on BACnet over MS/TP in TREND systems. The two pairs let you carry bus data and bus power, or two separate lines, in the same cable.
