Kostal BackUp Switch G3 Manual Three-Phase Changeover Switch 63A for PLENTICORE G3
The BackUp Switch G3 is the manual changeover switch that lets a Kostal PLENTICORE G3 system with a battery keep the house supplied when the public grid disappears. It is fitted in the distribution board and wired to the inverter; during a blackout you turn it by hand to move from the grid to an island supplied by the PV array and the battery.
It is a three-phase switch with two separate outputs: one for the loads that must stay live in backup mode, the other for normal grid operation. It includes cable break detection on the signal that tells the inverter which way the switch is set, so the system always knows its own configuration. A local neutral point replica can also be connected.
It takes just 8 DIN modules and sits on the same top-hat rail as the Kostal Smart Energy Meter, so it goes into an existing sub-distribution board or a separate enclosure. It suits domestic connections up to 63A and is declared compatible with every inverter in the PLENTICORE G3 series. It weighs 0.52kg. Changeover is manual: there is no automatic transfer.
