DC Surge Arrester Type 1+2 Phoenix Contact 1466777 VAL-SPP-T1-1000DC-PV-2+V-UT-R Remote

The Phoenix Contact VAL-SPP-T1-1000DC-PV-2+V-UT-R (article number 1466777) is a combined Type 1+2 arrester from the Safe Protection Plus family, for the direct current side of photovoltaic systems with a continuous operating voltage of up to 1200 V DC. Since it is tested with a 10/350 µs wave, it can also be used where the building is equipped with a lightning protection system (LPS) and the DC line may be affected by direct lightning current.

The construction uses a Y configuration (2+V) with three protection paths — DC+ / DC−, DC+ / PE and DC− / PE — on a three-position base with pluggable, thermally monitored protection elements, each fitted with optical status indication. The -R suffix identifies the base equipped with a remote signalling contact, which makes it possible to report the failure of an element to the plant supervision system; the UT suffix indicates the universal screw terminals. The device is installed on a 35 mm DIN rail in the DC combiner box, upstream of the inverter.

Key features

Combined Type 1+2 protectionA single device discharges the current from a direct lightning strike (Iimp 5 kA, 10/350 µs) and the induced surges (In 20 kA, 8/20 µs).
Remote signalling contactThe -R version integrates the remote contact to report the end of life of a protection element to the monitoring system.
Operating voltage up to 1200 V DCCompatible with photovoltaic generators with a 1000 V DC system voltage.
Three-path Y configurationDC+/DC−, DC+/PE and DC−/PE with a series spark gap: no leakage current to earth in normal service.
Monitored pluggable cartridgesThe elements are plug-in replaceable, with optical fault indication on each module and without touching the wiring.
UT universal terminalsM5 screw terminals for flexible conductors from 1.5 to 16 mm² and solid conductors from 1.5 to 25 mm².
