Siemens 5SD7483-6 DC surge arrester Type 1+2, 1000 V, for photovoltaics
The 5SD7483-6 is the combined Type 1+2 arrester of the SENTRON range for the DC side of a photovoltaic system: it protects inverter and wiring from both direct lightning discharge and induced surges.
It works up to 1000 V DC with an impulse current of Iimp 5 kA (10/350 µs), a nominal discharge current of In 15 kA and a maximum of 40 kA (8/20 µs), holding the protection level at 3.5 kV. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail, takes three modules, has an optical status indicator and replaceable cartridges. Compliant with EN 50539-11 and EN 61643-11.

The arrester must be installed as close as possible to the inverter and earthed by the shortest possible path: that is what determines the real protection level.
