Acrel AKH-0.66/K-K 300/5A Split-Core Current Transformer 36mm Aperture
The Acrel AKH-0.66/K-K Current Transformer with a 36mm aperture and 5A output is a split-core unit: the core opens and closes around the cable, so it fits onto a live installation without disconnecting anything and without pulling the conductor out. Its job is to bring a large current down into the reading range of an energy meter, a panel multimeter or a power analyser.
The primary accepts alternating currents up to 1000A and delivers 5A at the secondary, the standard figure for industrial measuring instruments; this version is rated for a 300/5A ratio. Accuracy is offered in class 0.5 and class 1.0, and the rated operating voltage is 0.66kV AC, which places it in low-voltage panels. The product is UL certified.
The 36mm aperture passes generous cable cross-sections and small busbars. Fitting must be done with the line de-energised by a qualified electrician, and the secondary must never be left open while the transformer is in service.
