BYD PDU Control Unit with Base for Battery-Box Premium LVS Low Voltage
The PDU (Power Distribution Unit) is the block a BYD Battery-Box Premium LVS tower is built on: it distributes power across the battery modules, acts as the control unit for the tower and keeps the link to the external inverter or charger. It is supplied together with the base the modules are stacked on.
You need one per tower: unlike the BMU, of which one serves the whole system, the PDU goes with each stack of modules. The data the inverter reads to know state of charge, voltages and current limits passes through it.
It is declared for Battery-Box Premium LVS 4.0, LVS 8.0, LVS 12.0, LVS 16.0, LVS 20.0 and LVS 24.0 systems. The manufacturer states explicitly that it is to be used only with BYD LVS batteries and not with other battery types. It weighs 7kg with the base included.
