What it does
- The G5 Pro Wi-Fi covers the outside in 4MP, day and night, and records to the 128GB microSD included.
- The same camera acts as the Zigbee hub: the three contacts and the two motion sensors pair with it, with no second hub.
- Contacts on the front door, the French window and the window report every opening; the P1 sensors pick up movement in two rooms.
- With the alarm mode on, every event sends a notification and the app shows you at once what is going on outside.
- The camera detects presence in the area it covers and can warn you before anyone reaches the door.
- Indoors, the motion sensors are useful for switching smart lights on as people pass, too.

How it is installed
Camera and hub. Fix the G5 Pro on the front wall, about 2.5-3 m up, facing the gate, drive or entrance, where the home Wi-Fi reaches and there is a power point. Since it also acts as the hub for the indoor sensors, pick a wall close to the doors and windows you want to monitor: thick walls cut the radio range. Insert the microSD before closing it up.
Door and window contacts. Stick the body of each contact onto the moving leaf and the magnet onto the fixed frame, lined up and a few millimetres apart with the leaf shut. Use the three sensors for the front door and the most exposed openings, the French door onto the garden and the window at the back for example. Clean the surfaces before applying the tape.
Motion sensors and storage. Put the two P1 sensors high in the corners of the places people pass through, the living room and the hallway for example, facing inwards and not towards windows or radiators. The 128GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD is built for continuous outdoor recording, with more room for 4MP footage than a 64GB card.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app add the G5 Pro by joining it to the Wi-Fi, then pair the contacts and the motion sensors, choosing the camera as the hub. Pair them with the sensors already in their final positions, so you can see straight away that the signal gets through. Give each one a clear name, “Garden french door” for example.
Recommended automations. Set up an “Away” mode and a “Night” mode: a contact opening or movement indoors sends a notification and starts the camera recording. Add a notification when the G5 Pro detects a person on the drive during the night. In the daytime, with people at home, leave only the contact alerts active on the openings that should stay shut.
Contents verified. Door and window contacts and P1 motion sensors are Aqara Zigbee devices and pair with the G5 Pro, which has the hub built in. The kit includes a 128GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, because the camera has no storage of its own and 4MP outdoor recording needs a card that is large and built for continuous writing.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No, the G5 Pro camera has a Zigbee hub built in: the three contacts and the two motion sensors pair straight to it. Bear in mind the camera is outdoors: pick a spot on the facade near the openings you want covered, because walls cut the radio range to the sensors.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
The manufacturer states that the G5 Pro works with Apple Home, HomeKit Secure Video included with an Apple hub, with Alexa and Google Home, and acts as a Matter bridge for the Aqara devices connected to it. The full set-up is done in the Aqara Home app.
How is the camera powered?
The Wi-Fi version is wired to a power point, as the manufacturer specifies: a socket or a supply is needed near the mounting position, which can be brought through the wall from inside. If you would rather run a single cable for data and power, there is a PoE version: get in touch.
Do you need an electrician?
The sensors and the camera need no mains wiring. If you do have to run a new socket out onto the front of the building to power the camera, that 230V work must be done by qualified personnel with the supply isolated.
What happens if there is no internet?
The camera carries on recording to microSD and the local automations with the sensors keep running. With no connection no notifications arrive and you cannot see the video from away: both come back as soon as the line does.
Are batteries included?
Aqara contacts and motion sensors run on batteries and, according to the manufacturer, come with the battery fitted. Each sensor's charge level shows in the Aqara Home app, which warns when it needs changing.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more Aqara Zigbee contacts, motion sensors, sirens and sensors pair to the G5 Pro. For a second viewpoint outside or a very large house, get in touch through the contact page: we will look at a second camera or an indoor hub.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
